Groups and Classes
Practitioners at People House offer a wide variety of groups and classes. The descriptions provided below can help you decide which best fits your needs. Also, take a look at our workshops.
Why Groups, Classes & Workshops?
In the wired world of the twenty-first century the Internet allows us to connect with people and knowledge from around the globe. Digital encyclopedias, chat rooms, multimedia, even a virtual office at home, are all there at the click of a mouse. But is clicking really connecting? And what must "click" before we connect to ourselves?
At People House, our experience tells us that access to global information is no substitute for a deep connection to our own inner spirit. As human beings, that's really what we're looking for. Even in the most sophisticated lifestyles, the man or woman at peace is the one with self-knowledge.
In a group setting we find that we're not alone in our search. As we hear others tell their stories, we see how they deal with struggles not unlike our own. In telling our personal stories, we see the gift of our uniqueness reflected back to us in the loving faces of the group members. We feel compassion for others and for ourselves. We learn new behaviors and gain the courage to try them out in a supportive environment. We feel safe to shine a light on dark places in our life experiences. In the process, we connect to others and to ourselves.
For more information contact the group leader or therapist of your choice directly or visit our informal Friday night drop-in group 7:30 pm-9pm where no ongoing commitment is necessary.
"Sensory Awareness Study Group
Recovering the Pure Joy of Being Alive with Marlene & Paul Zweig
All too often, due to the stresses and strains of living, we come to lose physical resilience, sensitivity and aliveness. We may become deadened to sensation and cut off from truly experiencing life and from taking in the nourishment that it offers.
The practice of Sensory Awareness is based on the premise that in order to be fully alive, we must re-awaken what we once had naturally- a fluid body and an in-born capacity to receive sensations. We work with gentle movements to increase sensitivity and inner aliveness. Our goal is to reclaim a depth of experiencing we may not have known since childhood. Marlene and Paul Zweig have been trained and authorized by Charlotte Selver, who brought this work from Germany and has been perfecting it for over 60 years.

Music, Metaphor and Meditation
Here is an untapped resource for connecting to your inner guidance. This group will be drop-in for a period of time until a core of people form a "community" of seekers who are connected and focused. We'll delve into the creative within ourselves and others by enjoying lyrics, melodies, myths and imagery. And we'll include a fair amount of quiet reflection. Come help form this group. Agni Yoga Study Group
I would like to invite you to an Agni Yoga reading and study group. This is a drop-in group, without obligation. We read the Agni Yoga books taking time to discuss their meaning and significance. Agni Yoga has nothing to do with physical discipline or asceticism. It is a spiritual teaching synthesizing ancient eastern beliefs with modern western thought. It is a philosophy concerned with the ethical aspects of daily life and balances self improvement with service. Reading these books has had a profound, beneficial effect on my life. I am a student not an expert or teacher of this discipline, and I love studying it in community.
Facilitator: Paul Zweig
Day/Time: Ongoing Thursdays beginning at 6:30pm
Cost: FREE!! Donations to PH appreciated
Information or to Register contact Paul at 303-758-3866
