Professional Practitioners at People House
Whose Responsibility Is It?
People House takes great care in selecting the professionals offering services in the healing arts here at People House. We want to make it clear that everyone offering services at People House is an independent contractor and/or business and therefore is to be held solely and totally responsible to all who make use of their services. This includes all ministers, professionals, and anyone using People House space for any and all activities. People House, while feeling secure in having these educators and healers available to you, is not to be held responsible for problems that may result in the carrying out of their services to you. Additionally, since each person is considered a distinct and independent "business," no practitioner at People House is to be held responsible for problems that may result with another practitioner or for any problems that may result in relationship to People House. Ultimately, of course, we feel that it is YOU who are responsible for the choices you make of who and what method you may choose for your education and healing process. We trust your inner wisdom to lead you in the right direction.
Our practitioners conduct their practice of healing, education and/or growth according to the ethics and guidelines of their particular field. In addition, they maintain a belief in the wisdom of the individual that is in harmony with the basic People House philosophy. Please see each description for details and phone numbers. All practitioners maintain their own schedules. Contact them directly for information about groups, workshops or personal appointments.

Susan Bickel, MA
We experience life based on our beliefs about ourselves, others, the nature of God or the Universe. If our beliefs are positive, life is friendly and supportive, but if they're negative,it seems difficult and hostile. Investigate your sub-conscious mind where beliefs originate and are stored using a process called Psych-K (psychological kinesiology), which can help you heal trauma, develop self-esteem, overcome depression and negative habits of the mind/body. Yoke the incredible power of your sub-conscious mind and give your “monkey mind” a rest! Confidential consultation free, over the phone or in person. This gives you the chance to evaluate working with me while exploring your situation with a trained professional before deciding to access counseling.

I focus on the topics of death loss, suicide, trauma, life transitions, and women's issues. I use the Enneagram as tool for personal growth. I believe counseling offers you, the client, hope for the present and future ways of being. I look forward to joining you on your journey of self- discovery and healing.

Jon Chavarria, Qigong Healing
Founder of Tao Energetics. Within each of us there is a mind, body, spirit connection. Tao Energetics is based on releasing stress and dis-ease from the mind, body, and spirit. The Tao Energetics technique is a non-invasive, touch-free method that locates weak points and blocked energy in the subtle body. When the weak points have been located, an energetic correction is performed and the adjustment is made. This process is repeated layer by layer until the healing is complete. When the healing is complete, you will experience an energy shift and balance is restored to the body's energy field. Jon is a native of Denver and founder of Tao Energetics. His dedication, love, and compassion for others empowers his healing methods.

Family and Children Counseling Program
Debbie Zucker, MSW, LCSW,
Supervisor of Affordable Counseling Program for Families and Children
Debbie has been in practice since 1989. She sees therapy as an opportunity for people to gain momentum and influence over problems rather than be defined by or drained by them. Debbie has extensive experience working with people who struggle with sadness, worry, trauma, loss, money problems, hard-to-break habits, and histories of sexual and emotional mistreatment. Unlike many approaches to therapy which often locate problems more exclusively "inside" of people, Debbie assumes that our choices and difficulties are also shaped by larger social and economic forces such as racism, economic hardship, sexism, homophobia and anti-semitism. Such forces can devalue and challenge people's dignity daily, muting their sense of possibilities and their hopes for change. Debbie sees counseling as a place where people can shift the burden of problems by putting their unique difficulties in wider contexts, freeing up energy for change and fresh solutions. In 1997 Debbie co-founded Madison, Wisconsin's Anti-Anorexia/Bulimia Project with the late Dr. Mimi Orner. From 1999 to 2001, Debbie was a senior therapist at the UW-Madison University Counseling Services. A graduate of clinical social work at Bryn Mawr College, Debbie did post-graduate work at the Contextual Center for Family Therapy in Pennsylvania.
