Professional Practitioners at People House

Whose Responsibility Is It?

People House takes great care in selecting the professionals offering services in the healing arts here at People House. We want to make it clear that everyone offering services at People House is an independent contractor and/or business and therefore is to be held solely and totally responsible to all who make use of their services. This includes all ministers, professionals, and anyone using People House space for any and all activities. People House, while feeling secure in having these educators and healers available to you, is not to be held responsible for problems that may result in the carrying out of their services to you. Additionally, since each person is considered a distinct and independent "business," no practitioner at People House is to be held responsible for problems that may result with another practitioner or for any problems that may result in relationship to People House. Ultimately, of course, we feel that it is YOU who are responsible for the choices you make of who and what method you may choose for your education and healing process. We trust your inner wisdom to lead you in the right direction.

Our practitioners conduct their practice of healing, education and/or growth according to the ethics and guidelines of their particular field. In addition, they maintain a belief in the wisdom of the individual that is in harmony with the basic People House philosophy. Please see each description for details and phone numbers. All practitioners maintain their own schedules. Contact them directly for information about groups, workshops or personal appointments.

Carole Adams, Professional Facilitator

I work with individuals, couples and groups, assisting in your process of finding solutions and making decisions, while respecting your inner wisdom and personal/group /team agenda. Listening without judgment, staying in the present-moment, and being open and accepting is at the heart of helping individuals and groups find their way out of the quicksand. This method of facilitation isn't "group think" or therapy, but rather a very honoring and amazingly effective approach to getting you back on track. In addition, I teach the Facilitator Training (FT) Course at People House and facilitate the FT Alumni Process Group for FT graduates; along with other groups and classes. Please call or email for more information or to make an appointment.

Katie Mason, MA, NCC, LPC

Sometimes life forces us to make changes. Maybe it's in the form of a devastating injury, a break up, the loss of a loved one, or getting fired from a job. You can no longer relate to your old life in the same way and in order to move forward you have to create a new way of being in the world. Making that transition requires courage to redefine who you are, compassion and insight into who you were and any losses you faced, and renewed enthusiasm to discover what life still has to offer you. My goal is to support and guide you in each of those steps. Call or email for a free consultation.

Lorraine Kerr-Atkinson, M.S.

Is it a problem or is it an opportunity? Sometimes what can feel like a problem is really an opportunity for growth and a call to a richer experience of life. Maybe that's why the symbol for opportunity is imbedded in the Chinese word for crisis. With compassion as our guide, I help individuals navigate their depression, anxiety, or life transitions by learning new ways of relating to the problems that all of us encounter. A practicing Buddhist with an M.S. in Pastoral Counseling, I am also trained to also help those individuals who wish to bring their spirituality into the therapeutic process for greater depth and meaning.

Desire, ask, believe, receive. – Stella Terrill Mann Every action and manifestation is born from a thought. Anxiety, stress, fears and phobias are often the culprits subconsciously inhibiting our choices and freedom. Though they may be rooted in something that was once useful, when they no longer serve us, it's time to let them go. Our minds carry the solutions to our problems. Hypnosis is one of the most effective tools to override what limits you. Change your thoughts, and change your life. Each client comes with a unique set of needs and skills. We will work together to create new thought patterns and behaviors that serve your authentic goals. Tools I use are hypnosis, hypnotic EMDR, writing and art therapy, and mindfulness training.

Using them, as when making music, we can explore our present relationship to our Self, to others, and to the direction of our lives. After several years of studying music, sociology and philosophy, I am currently working toward a Master's degree in Counseling at the University of Colorado Denver, and work with people to explore how they are feeling, how they would like to be feeling, and how they can work to align with a life that feels meaningful and whole.
