Professional Practitioners at People House
Whose Responsibility Is It?
People House takes great care in selecting the professionals offering services in the healing arts here at People House. We want to make it clear that everyone offering services at People House is an independent contractor and/or business and therefore is to be held solely and totally responsible to all who make use of their services. This includes all ministers, professionals, and anyone using People House space for any and all activities. People House, while feeling secure in having these educators and healers available to you, is not to be held responsible for problems that may result in the carrying out of their services to you. Additionally, since each person is considered a distinct and independent "business," no practitioner at People House is to be held responsible for problems that may result with another practitioner or for any problems that may result in relationship to People House. Ultimately, of course, we feel that it is YOU who are responsible for the choices you make of who and what method you may choose for your education and healing process. We trust your inner wisdom to lead you in the right direction.
Our practitioners conduct their practice of healing, education and/or growth according to the ethics and guidelines of their particular field. In addition, they maintain a belief in the wisdom of the individual that is in harmony with the basic People House philosophy. Please see each description for details and phone numbers. All practitioners maintain their own schedules. Contact them directly for information about groups, workshops or personal appointments.

Stephen has recently completed a Masters in Counseling with Regis University, is currently training in Applied Existential Psychotherapy with Boulder Psychotherapy Institute and is also enrolled in training as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. He also has extensive experience with business in Human Relations Management.

Sometimes life forces us to make changes. Maybe it's in the form of a devastating injury, a break up, the loss of a loved one, or getting fired from a job. You can no longer relate to your old life in the same way and in order to move forward you have to create a new way of being in the world. Making that transition requires courage to redefine who you are, compassion and insight into who you were and any losses you faced, and renewed enthusiasm to discover what life still has to offer you. My goal is to support and guide you in each of those steps. Call or email for a free consultation.

Hope, reconnect, and reclaim your relationship. When we first connect in love, we willingly open ourselves to our partner. Over time, armor can creep around our hearts. In a safe and warm environment, I help couples begin to loosen their armor, reconnect, and rewrite rigid patterns of combat and retreat. Together we begin to: explore the meaning behind areas of reoccurring conflict; improve communication skills; open to increased empathy and emotional connection; and rediscover the unique joys and strengths of your relationship. With compassion as our guide, I help individuals find fresh meaning/direction in old patterns and new life transitions.
As a psychotherapist with over ten years of experience addressing the needs of adolescents and adults struggling with trauma and mood disorders, I draw upon the latest interventions in neurobiology and somatic work, combining them with time-honored spiritual awareness. Desire, ask, believe, receive. – Stella Terrill Mann Every action and manifestation is born from a thought. Anxiety, stress, fears and phobias are often the culprits subconsciously inhibiting our choices and freedom. Though they may be rooted in something that was once useful, when they no longer serve us, it's time to let them go. Our minds carry the solutions to our problems. Hypnosis is one of the most effective tools to override what limits you. Change your thoughts, and change your life. Each client comes with a unique set of needs and skills. We will work together to create new thought patterns and behaviors that serve your authentic goals. Tools I use are hypnosis, hypnotic EMDR, writing and art therapy, and mindfulness training.
Why do we suffer? How can we stop hurting? As a Centering Facilitator, I help people discover their own truth and live from a place of joy and connection. I facilitate Work It! A Weekly Experience of the Work of Byron Katie every Monday evening at People House. The Work is a simple, elegant and powerful process of inquiring into painful thoughts that are at the root of our suffering. Come and experience the freedom and peace that unfolds when you dissolve the painful stories that have kept you trapped, anxious and small. As a Certified Martha Beck Life Coach I use many pro-active, spiritual, creative, fun, simple and surprisingly effective tools to help you uncover your essential self and live a satisfying and authentic life.

I am a body-oriented, mindfulness based, transpersonal counselor with a collaborative, strengths-based approach to therapy. I'm committed to providing supportive, yet challenging experiential counseling that both draws in what we want in life (meaning, personal power, joy, creative expression) while allowing a space to let go of what we no longer need (self-limiting beliefs, trauma, grief, anxiety). I have a Masters Degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University and I am the Director of Aspenroots Counseling LLC, a counseling center with locations in both Denver and Boulder. Every person carries an innate desire for balance and wellness in their life. They also carry the ability to achieve these goals. I am dedicated to assisting you in this process. In an open and honest manner, I will work with you to find the answers to questions surrounding relationships, sadness and day to day intentional living. I believe children and teens best express emotion in the language of play, imagery and artistic expression. My job is to interpret this play and facilitate their positive mental health and well-being. As a wilderness therapist, I believe in the innate ability for healing when one's environment is considered part of the therapeutic process. I will work with clients to find the answers to questions surrounding relationships, sadness and day to day intentional living. I am dedicated to assisting all on this journey with the support they need to achieve their goals in overall wellness. Mental health is extremely personal and individualized. I believe clients hold the power of healing within themselves. It is a great honor to be witness and assist in this process.

Darla is a Transformation Maven and owner of Ananda Wisdom. I work with people who are dissatisfied with their job, relationships and life direction. You don't have to have a fire, just desire!
We all have the potential to make meaning out of distress, suffering, or fragmentation. Through the intentional exploration of the sources of these experiences we have the possibilities for discovering health, happiness, and wholeness. Mind, body, and spirit are intermingled in our distresses as well as in our discoveries of meaning. It is vital to understand how our internal processing and external circumstances influence our views about the obstacles and possibilities of growth and development. People are able to overcome life's difficulties when they learn how to be self-reliant. By providing a listening, supportive, caring, and encouraging relationship with clients, I foster self-directed growth and positive change through the uses of Reality Therapy/Choice Theory, Jungian Depth Analysis, existential analysis, transactional analysis, and Logosynthesis. I am a registered psychotherapist with a M.Div., and a PhD in psychology.

I believe the mind, body and spirit work in unison and negative emotions such as depression, anger, guilt and low self-esteem are some of the harmful toxins that can manifest themselves. These items can have ill effects on the body. I feel therapy is a teamwork process that stimulates the enhancement of personal strengths and empowerment to aid in reaching personal goals. I have 10 years experience working with victims during the initial stages of their crisis. I understand the impact of trauma as well as its long-term effects. Contact me for a consultation. When we reach age 50, we can look at our past knowing that we are not the same person we were 20 years ago, only 20 years older. We are wiser, possess greater perspective and are able to make better life choices. I enjoy helping people see how the second half of life can be a time to create exciting and rewarding experiences, using the courage and wisdom that their earlier years have given them. I have facilitated workshops at People House and given talks to many community groups. I enjoy writing and my book, Keep Your Fork-Dessert Is On The Way: Savoring the Second Half of Life will be available spring of 2013.

How you see yourself might be deeply influenced by emotional pain, negative thoughts, destructive patterns, or addictive behaviors you struggle with. However, I believe these conditions cover up, rather than define, who you truly are. A diverse, radical approach to psychotherapy can help transform your relationship with your struggles, yourself, and your world. As a Psychotherapist, Yoga Teacher, Addiction Counselor, Body-Mind Integration Specialist, and MA Transpersonal Counseling Psychology student at Naropa University, my therapeutic approach is holistic and transpersonal, meaning it aims to affirm the wholeness and goodness of your true self, while developing what's sacred and healing in your life.

I believe humans, as exceptional beings, deserve a life of well-being. However, we are challenged by many life stressors. Authentic psychotherapy provides the chance for both the client and the therapist to grow together. Our growth facilitates endurance; unfolding our well-being from within. We are wounded, yet we have the inner capacity to heal. Healing is a process that needs empathic support; modeling a healthy environment. My passion as an intern in counseling is to offer this support and this environment. I am enthused to travel this journey of healing and growth with my clients.
