Grief and Loss Support Group

Loss is the absence of something we were once attached to. Grief is the normal physical, emotional, and psychological reaction to loss. All of us experience loss in our lives and depending on how attached we were to what is now absent in our lives effects the level of grief we experience. Sometimes grief is a simple process, but often times it is a difficult process that many of us have never been taught how to deal with. It can feel like something we may never be able to overcome and many times it may feel like those around you just don’t understand why you seem to hurt so much. If you feel you are trying to cope with a significant loss (such as the death of a loved one, divorce, or family separation) and want support as you venture through the grief process try joining this group to find the support, information, and understanding you need with others who are going through a similar difficult time. Together we can find the strength within ourselves that will help us through the pain of loss by embracing the attachment and the memories rather than trying to get over it in order to begin on the path of healing.

Agni Yoga Study Group

I would like to invite you to an Agni Yoga reading and study group. This is a "drop in" group, without obligation. We read the Agni Yoga books taking time to discuss their meaning and significance. Agni Yoga has nothing to do with physical discipline or asceticism. It is a spiritual teaching synthesizing ancient eastern beliefs with modern western thought. It is a philosophy concerned with the ethical aspects of daily life and balances self improvement with service. Reading these books has had a profound, beneficial effect on my life. I am a student, not an expert or teacher of this discipline, and I love studying it in community.

Facilitator: Paul Zweig, (303)758-3866, call for more info

Date/Time: First and third Thursdays, 6 – 8pm; Spruce Hall

For more information or to download an Agni Yoga book, go to Agniyoga.org

Experiencing A Course in Miracles

These are experiential periods for us to examine whose laws we are choosing and to rechoose. When we choose the laws we were taught or those which we believe we must obey, we are choosing substitutes for God's laws. Examples of these laws include "laws" of nutrition, judgement, what makes a friendship, relationship, etc. We even have laws for what we believe are God's laws, which have become our "religions". Come find out how the voice of God is the only law which speaks the Truth. This voice is Your voice. It will bring you to a state of joy and love that can happily erase all other voices and laws. It will move you into a peace of mind that brings freedom without boundaries.

Experience The Healing Method Of Medical Qigong

Jon Chavarria will demonstrate how Qi power can be channeled to eliminate both physical & emotional pain. This method called Tao Energetics is based on Chinese energy medicine, an ancient healing art. The results are experienced and felt instantly. Pain caused by physical, emotional, or trauma results in blocked energy. Once the blockage is located, an energetic correction is performed, focusing energy on the midline of the spine. This process may need to be repeated as more blockages are discovered. As a result, balance is restored. Jon will address any issue presented to him, as this method can be used in any situation to promote healing.

Special Engagements

Experiments in Mindfulness: The Heart of Understanding

"The unique contribution of the Hakomi method is this… precise experiments done with a person in a mindful state…" Ron Kurtz (Originator of the Hakomi Method). In this open group we work together to form a loving and supportive context that provides containment for "experiments" while in a mindful state. The purpose of these experiments, in the practice of Hakomi, is to evoke a spontaneous healing process that offers nourishment, new possibilities, and the integration of a new sense of being in the world. In this group, we will use a variety of mindfulness-based interactive exercises to begin to better understand ourselves, how we experience the world, and what essential experiences, like the feeling of safety or belonging, may or may not be missing from our lives. We will first explore and practice "loving presence" to establish safety and connection and from there begin to assist each other's self-study through the experiments. Previous experience with mindfulness is not necessary. Each class builds upon those previous, but anyone is welcome anytime.
