Restore & Radiate with Yoga Nidra

Feeling stressed? Every day, people tell me how tense, anxious, unfocused and depleted they feel. When stress accumulates and outweighs our ability to completely restore, we become unbalanced and distressed, leading to many physical, psychological and emotional ailments. Along with meditation and my personal yoga practice, I find Yoga Nid critical for managing my own stress. It is transformative! Yoga Nidra is a powerful restorative technique of conscious relaxation and guided meditation that counteracts the harmful effects of stress and cultivates the body's natural calming and healing abilities. Join me for an experience of Yoga Nidra along with some conversation about how it works to re-balance and restore you. Wear comfortable clothing, bring your yoga mat and a blanket, and be prepared to lie down for a delightful rest!

Agni Yoga Study Group

I would like to invite you to an Agni Yoga reading and study group. This is a "drop in" group, without obligation. We read the Agni Yoga books taking time to discuss their meaning and significance. Agni Yoga has nothing to do with physical discipline or asceticism. It is a spiritual teaching synthesizing ancient eastern beliefs with modern western thought. It is a philosophy concerned with the ethical aspects of daily life and balances self improvement with service. Reading these books has had a profound, beneficial effect on my life. I am a student, not an expert or teacher of this discipline, and I love studying it in community.

Men's Support Group – Empowered, Authentic, Connected

This group is for men ages twenty to forty seeking a deeper connection to their masculinity and a more full and balanced life. Here you will have the opportunity to explore and address challenges from a grounded, supported, and connected place. Format may include awareness exercises, individual work, personality exploration, group discussion and more.

Typical emotions experienced at this time can include sorrow, guilt, anxiety, and anger, as well as a heightened awareness of the loss of future dreams, independence, and security. As you struggle with and grieve the loss of a loved one as they approach the end of their life, I invite you to "come together" with others who share your experience. A Workshop on Mindfulness

We were all deeply embodied as children. In the striving for mental mastery and in the development of abstract thinking and exploration, the body often seems to have been left behind. The body, however, is the source of deep wisdom and intelligence; as well as of empathy and compassion. It is a fount of pleasure and delight. Becoming more embodied leads us to actually experience how good it is to be alive. This quest for mindfulness and embodiment aims at opening the doorway to a world of richness, depth and "experiencing".

Tap into Your Inner Well

Stress, anxiety, confusion, relationship challenges, ineffective action are all signs that we aren't living from the deep well of our valuable inner resource – that place of quiet awareness or presence, our authentic sense of Self. When we are in that place there is calm and greater clarity. We are less reactive and make better decisions. Come away and be refreshed for a few hours. We'll reflect on what mindful awareness is, and then spend time together doing some meditation, visualization, and mindful practice to turn off the noisy voice in our head and replace it with something worth our time and life.

Self-Coaching with Logosynthesis™

Logosynthesis is an elegantly simple verbal technique for dissolving reactions to past, present or anticipated stressful situations. It is based on a spiritual/metaphysical point of view that holds that our basic life energy can get stuck in reaction to anything that happens to us that we can't fully process; Logosynthesis identifies the triggers to these reactions and helps us retrieve the energy bound up in the stuck experiences. We will focus on Logosynthesis as a process for self-coaching and stress reduction. We will demonstrate the process with volunteers from the group, and will discuss what we are doing and why we are doing it. We may offer a five-session followup class for more personal work.

Facilitator: Jonathan and Laurie Weiss are partners in life and work, internationally recognized psychotherapists, authors and relationship specialists, and the only Certified Logosynthesis Practitioners in the US.

How Internalized Oppression Gets in Our Way

Our self esteem is tied up with the wounds of our present and past. Sometimes we are not aware how unresolved issues are attached to our struggles. They can come from injustices done to marginalized group(s) we belong to. For example, if we are middle class now, but come from a poor family, are biracial in a family where one of our races is not acceptable to another member of the family, if we are struggling with sexuality &/or gender issues there may be some healing to do. Come learn about internalized oppression and you will be in a drawing for a free 30 min. consultation.

Hidden Behind Shame

Are you tired of hiding behind the fear that someone is going to discover that you aren't who they think you are? If they got close to you and really knew you, they might reject you? Shame is the mind, body and emotional experience that holds the negative beliefs we took in at some point that is intrusive and insists that we are flawed, unlovable, a failure and not good enough. Everyone experiences Shame, but we don't talk about it. When we keep our negative beliefs and judgments hidden, they get more distorted in our mind and it tends to grow. We don't have the opportunity to have a corrective experience. Unfortunately, our Shame covers up our authentic selves; the lovable, good enough, whole person that you are. Come discover more about Shame, its impact, and how to reduce the tightly held beliefs we use for protection. Talking about Shame reduces the affect it has over us. Courageously attend this experiential workshop to learn to feel compassion and healing. Limited space!

Micro-Cosmic Orbit Workshop

In this workshop, we shall learn how to do the Micro-Cosmic Orbit practice. The Micro-Cosmic Orbit involves using the breath and concentration to direct the flow of energy in the body through energetic pathways, or meridians. The Micro-Cosmic Orbit is a circuit comprised of two meridians that move up the body from the base of the spine to the head and down the front of the body to the perineum. The Micro-Cosmic Orbit is the foundation of the Qigong "Internal Alchemy" practices, including the Taoist Sexual Love arts. The Micro-Cosmic Orbit enables us to refine our internal energy; and it is an easy way to develop our meditation ability because we can place the mind in the body which stills the thoughts.

Embracing your Shadow

What you resist persists. We all have parts of ourselves that we reject, things we wish we could change about ourselves. We spend endless energy trying to cover up, hide and compensate for that which we find unacceptable within ourselves. Trying to get rid of these unwanted parts of ourselves doesn't work. When you discover the gifts and wisdom of these unwanted parts of yourself you can begin to integrate them and move yourself towards wholeness. Based on Parts Psychology and the Shadow work of Debbie Ford, we will journey through a series of guided internal exercises to open the possibility of accepting the unacceptable within yourself and begin loving and embracing all of who you are. This is a free stand-alone event and also an introduction to an experiential book study of Debbie Ford's book, The Dark Side of the Light Chasers to follow in September.
